Bengaluru, 16 Feb

Social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, experienced a major outage on Monday, leaving thousands of users across the United States, United Kingdom and India unable to access the site or refresh posts.

Outage tracking website Downdetector showed complaints spiking to over 25,000 around 6.30pm, with many users reporting issues logging in and loading timelines.

Many users took to other platforms to flag the disruption, saying the app and website either failed to load or displayed error messages. The outage appeared to impact both desktop and mobile users, though services were gradually restored in some regions later in the evening.

The platform, owned by tech billionaire Elon Musk, has faced intermittent technical glitches since his takeover and subsequent restructuring of the company. However, there was no immediate indication that Monday’s outage was linked to any specific change or update.

The reason behind the disruption was not immediately known, and the company had not issued an official statement at the time of publishing.
